Three Links
Most of the interactions you have, you have for the experience that they provide you. Think about it. You choose one paint color over another because you like the emotion invoked by the name. You shop at certain stores because they are closer, easier, cheaper, or you like the way you look or feel about yourself (or your wallet) after you shop. You may even sit in an hour or more of traffic on your commute to work because you prefer the relative silence inside your car to the random musings of the stranger sitting next to you on the 30 minute subway ride. All choices you make based on your desired experience.
As an experience designer, I work with my clients to craft interactions in order to enhance that which you want to feel or see or do (or that you want others to feel or see or do).
